khaki everywhere

The costumes are really starting to come together for Othello. The whole play is taking place beetween military men and there wives so were doing a more modern army theme so there is lots khaki in discussion. I'm not much for khaki myself.. I think that is a horrible colour for light skin tones. It does look okay on darker skin tones though. I think I would go crazy if I ever wore a khaki safari shirt because I would constantly be reminding myself if jurrasic park. They all have these ridiculous khaki shirt-tucked into odd pants-binoculars-safari hat outfits that kindof make me laugh. It is hard to be scared of a man-eating dinosaur when the man it's eating looks like he just stepped out of a badly clothed group of British safari goers. OH WAIT. he DID.

But anyway the costumes are great, even though khaki isn't as much. One of our main actors just dropped out all of a sudden so we just had to start taking measurement of the replacement. Thankfully they were around the same size because otherwise we would have had to shop desdemona all over again.

There are a few really cute things from topshop that we got for Emilia and desdemona, including a cute white double breasted jacket that was really mod-looking. Lux (costume assistant) found the perfect boots for Bianca from Steve Madden and she haggled the price to practically half the original. Here is a really crappy iPhone picture of said boots on Alexa (the girl who is playing Bianca)

and here is one of the costume rack (person standing in front is Tilly)

Oh and here are some craptastic iPhone pictures from Wednesday when we went to kuafmanns (army surplus store). It was a space only slightly bigger than my room and they had all this amazing military garb from all over the world//different time periods just stacked up to the ceilings. The staff was really helpful and we found these kick-ass combat boots that we will probably have the men wearing.

Oh and I also found a really creepy gas mask just like, sitting there so I took a picture...

I feel like I could do something really artsy with the gas mask but I can't quite visualize it...

Tommorow I get to do returns! YAY. (<~ sarcasm) I have to lug like 7 huge ass coat all the way to anthropologie and then take all this other stuffs to various other stores and demand money back. If I see anything cool I'll take a picture for you guys.

Night!

buddah's delight

Hmm I have decided (while sipping a rather good spoonful of wanton soup) That I am going to adopt a whole new rather “monkly” persona//outlook on things. You guys better get prepared because this post illustrates the kinds of things cordi thinks about when asian food eaten in a monkly manner, a new rather OOTW playlist, watching reruns of Avatar: The Last Airbender with brothers, and crazy concentraity ADD drugs are combined. Please don’t laugh or flame, just hear me out.

RANT.. ACTIVATED
*bbeep beep blip zzzz*

There has been a lot of drama going around and things have been building up emotionally for some time which has started to turn me spiteful and bitter (not to mention causing some annoying stress breakouts). But this is old news and certainly not unexpected (Middle school; its a hell-hole people) but it doesn’t mean it isn’t important.

I do love proverbs and giving advice//fixing social problems among friends, but I rarely ever take what I give to my own heart. So I have decided with the year coming to a close, and the coddling notion that I will only have to deal with certain people for a little while longer I would like to believe that I can remain above it all. I need to let go of my bitterness and try to find a peacefullness within myself. Although that is a farfetched goal (I know), It doesn’t hurt to try.

Shoot for the moon, becuase if you miss, you land among the stars

I see people around me, I observe their behavior, and although the way it may affect me is negative and it may cause a negative reaction from me, I have to look at it objectively. Human behavior is human behavior and it is shocking when put in perspective but expected when put in objective. I would hope that the message that I can give to everyone who has “wronged” me (and again I use “wronged” circumspectly) is this;
I cannot “forgive but not forget” because even though it sounds grand it is more likely that I would forget it over time than actually forgive it. So instead I will try to convey this message: I will not forgive things that hurt me unless I have prompted cause to, I will not forget things that hurt me (as much as I want to) because I need to keep them as memories and use them as lessons later on in life (Like a drama study guide!), but I want you to know that I will try my best to understand and acknowledge why it came about and your reasons for it. One must always remain objective when in dealings of the human race. It is ironic and a painfully true fact of human nature but; Things can offend one, but it doesn’t mean they won’t do the same in another situation. I am going to try and not be unnecessarily hateful, go out of my way to make people feel uncomfortable, or anyother things that people have done to me because I know first hand how much it stings and although I may want to, I can only do unto others as I would hope they do unto me.
Yes, Yes this is the PROVERB POST
Just a few rambling words of nonsensical wisdom from a girl who thinks of everything but knows nothing.

I also would like this to go online so I will constantly be reminded of the decisions I make in my life and hopefully not let the positive ones die out (by never revisiting this document and having it lost among my other ramblings (RANT FOLDER). I don't usually get all emotional-ish and like drama obssesed and I'm still not, but I guess I'm too lazy to start a life blog right now (were posting this stuff would make a lot more sense) but maybe I will just for the sake of it. (Another time though) I promise that from now on I will try not to have any non-fashion related ranty off topic posts!

This probably makes minimal sense but I don’t feel like taloring it to be readable because I figure what came out of my head then was what I was thinking, even if it is scrambled.

Some random quotes that are fantastic;
"I have never let my schooling interfere with my education."
- Mark Twain (1835-1910)
"Its not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog."
- Mark Twain (1835-1910)

- Abraham Maslow (1908-1970)
"When a man is wrapped up in himself he makes a pretty small package."
- John Ruskin (1819-1900)
"Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig."
- Proverb
"If you lose your temper, you’ve lost the argument."
- Proverb
"I don’t want to achieve immortality through my work. I want to achieve it by not dying."
- Woody Allen (1935-)
"I have an existential map; it has ‘you are here’ written all over it."
- Steven Wright
"When choosing between two evils, I always like to try the one I’ve never tried before."
- Mae West (1892-1980)
"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."
- Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
"Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian."
- Dennis Wholey (1937-)
"I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
- Thomas Edison (1874-1931)
(I have tons more, maybe I will make a habit of including one at the end of each post. xD)

Yes Guys, unfortunatley, though I am usually pretty adamant about ACTUALLY STAYING ON TOPIC on blogs, I had to make an exception for this post because I needed to write it for myself. To help "find peace" within myself. (CORNY but true) I will however include this rather (slightly, Maybe?) fashion related picture:

I will pretty much be parading around in my Monk Suit (snuggie) all the time now since I have dubbed myself an honorary monk (not the christian kind, just generally kindof buddhist/shintoist/gnomeland kind) YES, we have monks in GnomeLand (translates roughly into CordiLand)

(;
Picture of me in the monk suit later!

apologies to my meerkat family

Hey guys! I know that only a few people read this blog, several of which just to hate on it, but I must give you guys this message that I have sadly brought it upon myself to give. (?whatttt?)

Finals are coming.

(^depressed person^)
Yes the dreaded finals.. Review week starts on Monday and goes through till Friday and we have finals on the Tues, Wednesday, and Thursday the week after that.
So as much as I love this blog I think that for the next two weeks I will have to limit myself to 3 posts a week. ): I know, I know, you'll miss me. (or not) but I promise to make the 6 posts from the next two weeks awesome (I hope).

I need to concentrate supah hard because I really want to do well. So sorry guys! But I'm not gone forever!

I'm starting to actually do some work on the costumes for shakespeare on the sound today, so that is pretty exciting. Tilly (the costume designer) and I are going shopping for shoes today. (: I don't know where we are going but I will add some photos of the shoes//places from my iPhone. Hopefully we wont get lost because she just moved here from England and has no idea how to navigate NY and I only have limited knowledge... so we'll see! (EDIT on the 1st of June: It turns out it is I who has zero knowledge, as has been evidenced by my past fews days at Shakespeare (; Tilly is beast, she knows her way around *runs off to find bathroom using google maps Ozzy Osbourne style* )

I'm not sure what theme or time period we are going with for the costumes but our director (Joanna) has some very strong opinions about it. Apparently according to the SOTS (Shakespeare on the sound) veterans the costumes last year turned out to be a disaster. They said that when Joanna fired the costume designer last year (different one then this year) she actually made her cry... but hey guys a good director needs to lay down the law if she wants to get things done.

eek.. scary!

So yeah I know I always say this but, I'll update this post later!

my sixth sense

Hmm so you know how a few days ago, I found a little purse with the union jack in sequins on it in my moms closet? Yes? Well I of course started using it, because it is, well, AWESOME.
(example: in this outfit that I wore to the city that I promised I would post a while ago)

I look sortof murderous//superugly in these photos but iz all good.
So anyway, I went into a hudson news and bought a bunch of foreign magazines and yadayadayada. BUTTT I was looking through this french magazine called Please! (with the exclamation point) and I saw an alexander wang purse that looked ALMOST IDENTICAL to my childhood sequin purse thing that I found in my moms closet I must have some sort of sixth sense to subconsciously catch on to trends before I know them. (:

I think I told you about the outfit I wore but I don't think I told you about the AWESOME LIPS COUCH!
My family and I stopped in the Oyster Bar in Grand Central to grab some dinner, and it was this really homely wood paneled, ships in bottles kindof place that looked like it had a lot of history. SO then I get up to go to the bathroom and I walk through this thick musty old door with a stuffed fish hanging over it, and emerge into.. a SUPERSUPER modern bathroom with a Lip Couch! I was so entertained y it I just sat there for ten minutes making gurgles while I drooled. So of course I had to get my mom to come in and take a picture of me on it! It reminded me of Prada's famous lip print.

Sorry You cant really see the print in the runway photo, but the photo was from 2000 so he digital camera quality was.. eehhh

i heart tag sales

I was on my way to my haircut this morning when I spotted a cute little tag sale right down the road from my house. I think at one point I actually started yelling "OOOH TAG SALE TAG SALE TAG SALE" and practically seizing in my seat. Tag sales excite me so much, they are so interesting. It is like you are snooping into these people's past lives and re-living them through their items. Hmm.. that came out a bit creepier than I intended....

After my haircut I waited excitedly as my mom drove at what seemed to me to be the pace of an elderly snail being dealt copious amounts of morphine, and finally arrived at la destanation de DREAAMSS, a.k.a small tagsale in driveway of 50somethings surburban home. She gave me 20 bucks and then sped off to fetch various sibling of mine. I entered excitedly and noted immediatley that this lady must have worked at ralph lauren or something because she had a buttload of 80's and 90's ralph. I looked a a few pairs of breezy flannel shorts and one rather raunchy feathered dress when I discovered the beacon of light that had been delivered to me straight from the GOOJ (God Of Orange Juice). Under a stack of old barney VHS tapes I discovered a very dandy Kate Spade bag- and for only 2 dollars! I snatched that thing faster than......
a- really fast.. thing?
and booyah I was outahh there.

The majority of the designer bags I have are from various tagsales around my little old town of Yawnroot*
a picture of two of my best finds here:

they are a little worn out but I love them all the same.

Sorry that I haven't updated my last post (with the photos of my outfit)

But come on, 2 dollars for Christ's sake!

Oh and I about the haircut; I didn't go for anything drastic, just a trim because i'm growing it out. Sorry folks, thats as crazy as its gonna get for now. Although I am probs gonna re-dye it next weekend so maybe I will do something crazy... pastel turquoise stripe? That Marc Jacobs ad from ye yonder ago has me inspired...

PS. HOUSE season finale tomorrow night!! YAYAYYYY! Who's watching it? Huh? HUh?
I sure am!
And so should you!

maxi maxi

I have suddenly gotten really into maxi skirts and maxi dresses. I just love floor length things except I can never wear them because they look to mature for me and I can never find a top to go with them. I am in NYC today and I will be desperately searching for a nice tank top or crop top or something to wear with a floor length skirt..

Oh and I also need a floor length skirt.
Hah. I've mostly just been borrowing my mum's skirts and she really only has mid-calfs because she doesn't like floor length.

We might stop in urban outfitters later but I'm not sure if they have maxi skirts.

Oh! And a few hours ago is I stopped in a Hudson News while in Grand Central and they had this fantastic international fashion section where I picked up a Dazed & Confused. I have never read a dazed and Confused but a lot of bloggers talk about it so I figured I should check it out. I've onl had time to flip through it (I'm at a Shakespeare on the sound rehearsal//meeting)
The issue that they had was titled "the naked truth" so I'm not sure how many photos will be going up here (NUDITTYYYY--OMG) but I will put up the ones I can latahh. (: I will also post a picture of my outfit for the city//shakepeare meeting
It beez pretty chill :3

Update this postie post later!

mcqueen,mcqueen,mcqueen

Alexander McQueen was and still is, even after his death, one of the most influential and groundbreaking designers of the century. Whenever I find myself in a dull moment in class, I subconsciously start sketching his famous armadillo shoes. I did these sketches the day after he died (in math class).

(I will add this picture later when I have access to le camera)

Hopefully the McQueen house will continue to exhibit the trademark creativity and daring that they are so well known for. Here are some of the highlights of Alexander McQueen's designs through the years.

(The first two are of th famous armadillo shoes)

Th shoes above are also a rather famous design of McQueen's the "Titanic Ballerina" shoes.

I Know that this Memorial//Tribute is extremely late but unfortunately this little bloggy blog was not around when he died. ):

Hope you enjoyed this post! (;

a clockwork orange

I read A Clockwork Orange a few months ago and it still haunts me. It was beautifully written, though I have to say it took a little getting used to for me in the beginning. The language is a very complex mix of Russian, Shakespearean english, and ghetto slang. However after I read a few chapters I started to recognize the words with a russian base which is good because I actually know a little Russian now (making my russian ancestors proud :P). I'm not going to lie,
This book was INSANELY creepy and disturbing. I would tell you all about it but then that would ruin it for you when you decide to read it (WHICH YOU WILL). I heard the movie is even creepier, but I haven't seen the whole thing, only clips.

This next one was supposed to be my own rather lame reproduction of the photo above ^ (taken by flick in study hall)

And here is a photo from my book of Vogue Paris covers that I found that was just pulsing with a highly clockwork like vibe.
(Photo: Helmut Newson for Paris Vogue 1978)

I had to photoshop some clothing items on those two girls that are being used as footstools in the picture above, because they were unfortunatley in the nude. Lets keep it Pg-13 people! (this picture is from the movie)

I remembered that back over spring break I was reading a fashion editorial that was done in the theme of A Clockwork Orange, but I couldn't remember what magazine it was in. I was 100 percent sure it was from Nylon so I spent like 3 hours looking through my Nylon archives from around that time. Turns out it was actually in a magazine called Clear which is a really awesome magazine that I bought once in an an airport and then I could never find it again (I'm too lazy to order it online). So I have few photos of the spread that I took with my SLR but they are kindof crap because of the light reflection and shadow and brightness and AHH I NEED TO GET MY BUTT TO SCANNER SCHOOL.

Heres an illustration a did a WHILEWHILEWHILE ago of the pictuh above (its not very good but all is well)

I spent a panicked three hours trying to figure out an outfit for this dance my school is having. They say it is "semi-formal". I hate when people say "semi-formal", what does it mean? Dresses, shirts and jeans? I cant be semi- formal. Can I be full formal? Yes. Can I be casual? Yes. Can I be dressy? Yes. But semi-formal?? Wtf does that mean?

anyway so apologies for that little side rant but the bottom line is that after nearly a half hour of coaching over the phone from Ali, I finally decide on this outfit that
*SHOCKER*
was really similar to the outfit in the CLEAR Magazine clockwork orange spread.

It must have been in my subconscious or something...

Vintage Blazer. American Apparel Leggings. Shoes from H&M. Hat from Mom's Closet.

This isn't my usual style but since I had hit an outfit roadblock I figured I might as well try it!

(oh and btw my hair look really gross in those pictures for some reason, but it isnt I swear! *nods head eagerly*)
